Meilenstein für Wasserstoff aus Abfallholz

BtX energy, Burkhardt und ProMethan, drei Unternehmen aus dem Bioenergiebereich, haben eine Gasaufbereitungstechnologie entwickelt, die den Wirkungsgrad von Abfallholz zu reinem Wasserstoff auf über 50 % steigert.

Moderne Anlagenbauer wie ProMethan und Burkhardt haben die Holzvergasungstechnologie weiterentwickelt. ProMethan produziert modulare Hackschnitzelvergaser mit 200 - 1000 kW Brennstoffleistung, während Burkhardt Anlagen mit 500 kW bis zu 6 MW anbietet. Beide Unternehmen erzeugen sauberes Gas aus Restholz, das durch Brennstoffzellentechnik einen hohen Wirkungsgrad im Fahrzeug erreicht.

Die Wassergas-Shift-Reaktion, die in der Erdgasbranche zur Herstellung von Wasserstoff verwendet wird, wurde für die Holzvergasung angepasst. Der BtX-Reaktor nutzt ein ausgeklügeltes Temperaturmanagement und benötigt keine externe Energiequelle. Dieses Konzept wurde im BMWK-geförderten Projekt BiDRoGen entwickelt.

Die Nachhaltigkeit von Holz als Energieträger erfordert nachhaltige Forstwirtschaft, feinstaubarme Technologie und kurze Transportwege. Die Anlagen der beteiligten Unternehmen erfüllen diese Anforderungen und wandeln Restholz vor Ort in Synthesegas um, das zu Wasserstoff und Wärme verarbeitet wird.

Biogener Wasserstoff wurde 2021 als grüner Treibstoff zugelassen. BtX energy besitzt ein Zertifikat für die Erzeugung von grünem Wasserstoff aus Gülle und Mist. Die Unternehmen planen den Markteintritt und den Aufbau vollständiger Anlagen zur Wasserstoffabscheidung sowie die Erprobung der Flüssigtreibstoffsynthese aus Holzgas.
